Bullhead City man with ugliest couch in America wins $10,000 first prize

By THOM McGRAHAM Bee Staff Writer

BULLHEAD CITY - One might think Tim Finn acquired an unsightly, huge divan years ago for the purpose of employing it as an anti-couch-potato weapon but the semi-retired former casino employee from Bullhead City, Ariz., - fighting space problems in his home because of the couch - took a positive gamble and ended up winning a $10,000 living-room makeover grand prize for his efforts.

A 25-year resident of Bullhead City, Finn entered his colorful 12-foot sofa in the national "Ugly Couch Contest" - sponsored for the eighth consecutive year by Sure Fit Inc., Slipcovers of Allentown, Pa. Out of 1,050 entries, Finn's was tabbed in August as one of the three most hideous couches in America by 23,000 individuals who cast their votes online at www.surefit.com.

Tim Finn (trophy) of Bullhead City enjoys sitting on ugliest couch in America with the likes of Joan Rivers and Regis Philbin and Kelly Ripa, co-hosts of the popular Live with Regis and Kelly morning talk show on Sept. 18. Finn's couch. which won top prize valued at $10,000, was selected by studio audience members who voted for best of three finalists in ugly couch contest sponsored by Sure Fit, Inc., Slipcovers. David Keyser (l) from Ferryville, Wis., won second place and Jill Piispanen (r) of Winchester, Mass., was third.

I just so happen to have the Ugly Bullhead Chronograph to go with that Ugly Bullhead City Couch!
